Memorial Medical Group Neurosurgery began in 2000 as The Spine and Neurosurgery Center in Lawton, OK. Today, MMG Neurosurgery is part of the largest health system is Southwest Oklahoma. The neurosurgeons at MMG Neurosurgery bring together a diversity and depth of training received from medical programs across the United States. Each has exceptional skill in the latest, most innovative surgical techniques for neurological and spine disorders, including microsurgery, endoscopic surgery, minimally invasive spine surgery, complex and comprehensive spine surgery and non-operative management.
We routinely recommend that surgical options be considered only after all non-operative treatments have been exhausted. In fact, we believe avoiding surgery is, in many cases, the smartest path to achieving the most successful result. We will recommend surgical treatment only when, based on our years of experience in treating patients with similar conditions, the likely benefits will dramatically improve the patient’s quality of life.
We take enormous pride in every detail of what we do. Our goal is to provide the highest level of care to every patient, and treat them as if they were a member of our own family.

Mark Duncan, DO
A native Oklahoman, Dr. Duncan graduated from Northeastern State University with a degree in biology and attended medical school at Oklahoma State University College of Osteopathic Medicine in Tulsa Oklahoma. His residency in Neurosurgery at Horizon Health Systems/Henry Ford Health Systems BI-County Community Hospital Warren, Michigan. His neurosurgical training included chief resident position at Bi-County Community Hospital. His training also included Neuro Trauma at Detroit Receiving and Neuro Pathology at Henry Ford Hospital, Detroit.
He completed a Spine Fellowship at the University of Arizona, Tucson. He practiced in the Detroit Metropolitan before returning to his home state of Oklahoma to raise his children and practice neurosurgery. Dr. Mark Duncan sees adult patients for Brain Tumors, Hemorrhages, Hydrocephalus, Chiari Malformations, Spinal tumors, Herniated disc, Degenerative disease, Carpal Tunnel Syndrome, Ulnar Neuropathy, and Trauma.
While brain surgeries are a large part of Dr. Mark Duncan’s practice, the majority of surgeries he performs are spine surgeries. People are often surprised to learn that neurosurgeons perform spinal surgery, but neurosurgeons are, in fact, the true experts for spinal diseases of all kinds. He has received specialized training in neurological disorder diagnosis and treatment of the spine through a six year internship and residency – more surgical training than found in many other specialties.
His extensive medical training and years of experience mean Dr. Mark Duncan is unsurpassed in the prevention, diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation of disorders that affect the entire nervous system. His relationship with each patient begins with the first appointment. Because when you schedule an appointment to see Dr. Mark Duncan, you will get to see that neurosurgeon – not a Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician’s Assistant (PA) as is often the case with many neurosurgical practices.
All to say that Dr. Mark Duncan’s philosophy begins with his commitment to honor the doctor-patient relationship – through listening, asking questions and then listening some more – with each and every appointment.
He follows a conservative treatment philosophy. His goal is to perform the least invasive, most effective procedure available, specifically tailored for each patient.
Each year, it has been his privilege to provide care for patients in Southwest Oklahoma, Northwest Texas, and patients from virtually every state in the nation and some from other countries who were here for military training.
